What’s “App-ening” at Taste of the Southside

2016 Taste of the Southside

If you think you missed the 2016 Taste of the Southside, you haven’t. It has been moved from its usually February date to the second weekend in November. During the event, you can enjoy 100 samples from more than 30 food and beverage vendors. And unlike previous years’ maze of “Where’s my favorite” whatever, this year you can pull out your smartphone and look it up on a new mobile app, Southside Tastebuds (click to download at Google Play). The app was created by an Indiana business under the direction of the Greater Greenwood Chamber of Commerce.

The app, available now for both Android and Apple, features details about 24th annual Taste of the Southside, presented by Meijer. It is more than just a list of food and beverage exhibitors.

The app will allow you to:

  • Purchase tickets to the Taste of the Southside
  • Review the map and schedule prior to and during the event
  • Discover the items exhibitors will be serving
  • Vote for best beverage, appetizer, entree, dessert and booth decor
  • Connect with participating exhibitors, sponsors and the Greenwood Chamber
  • Learn more about Taste of the Southside via the FAQ section
  • Receive special deals from exhibitors and notifications

After the event Southside Tastebuds app will live on. It will serve as an information hub providing updates about events and specials from local restaurants, wineries and breweries. “The Taste is more than a single event. It’s a community of local food and beverage lovers,” said Christian
Maslowski, Chamber CEO. “Now our foodies can use this app to engage with area food and beverage-makers, and the Taste, year-round.”

This year’s Taste of the Southside will feature a mixology competition, chef challenge, wine pull, silent auction and live entertainment. Tickets are on sale now. Early access tickets are $45 and allow guests to enter 30 minutes early. General admission tickets are $40.
